Appointment of new Boccia England CEO

Boccia England is delighted to announce the appointment of Will Evans as our new Chief Executive Officer.

Will has been Head of Sport at Boccia England for the past six months and will take up the new role immediately following the recent departure of Chris Ratcliffe.

Prior to joining Boccia England, Will has worked for British Triathlon, England Golf and England Netball, as well as being a Board member for England Lacrosse and Rounders England. He has also led Burton Albion Community Trust and School Sport Partnerships, bringing significant experience of disability sport, including boccia.

Boccia England Chair Mark Gannon said,

“Myself and the rest of the Board are excited by Will’s appointment. He brings strong experience and connection from across the sport sector that will be crucial in leading our sport forward. Will’s vision for the future development and direction of boccia in England was evident throughout the selection process and the positive momentum we have already seen in his six months as Head of Sport will only build in this new role.”

“We were overwhelmed with both the quantity and quality of applications we received, which reflects how positively boccia is regarded within the sport sector. We would like to thank everyone that showed their interest in leading our sport forwards. Having been through this extensive process, we are confident that we have made an excellent choice and look forward to supporting Will and the team to grow the sport of boccia and Boccia England in coming years.”

Commenting on his appointment, Will said,

“I am honoured and very grateful to have been appointed as the new CEO for Boccia England. Having spent six months working closely with Chris, I have learned a great deal from him and this sport has truly got under my skin in that time. I truly believe that this is the most inclusive sport in the world, and I want to see us spread access to the sport to as many people as we possibly can.”

“The boccia community has already been very welcoming to me in the past six months and I am certain that will continue in this new role. I want to engage with as many parts of our sport as I can. So, please make contact with me and I will be very happy to spend time talking about, and learning more about, this great game.”
