Boccia England Meets Ann Craft Trust Safeguarding Standards

Boccia England is delighted to announce that it has successfully met the standards of the Ann Craft Trust Framework for Safeguarding Adults in Sport.

The Framework is a nationally recognised benchmark for organisations working in sport and physical activity and is a mandatory requirement for organisations receiving funding from Sport England. The online assessment supports National Governing Bodies, National Specialist Partners, and Active Partnerships funded by Sport England and UK Sport to implement and evidence best practice in safeguarding adults.

The assessment evaluates organisations across six key themes:

  • Safeguarding governance
  • Implementation of adult safeguarding responsibilities
  • Training and staff development
  • Safe recruitment
  • Codes of conduct
  • Managing safeguarding adult cases

Following the submission of comprehensive evidence across each theme, Boccia England was assessed as having met the Framework conditions in all six areas.

The assessment report stated:

“In general, this was a good submission and demonstrates a commitment to ensure adults are safe within the sport of boccia. It is also clear that the organisation is naturally inclusive and, through the nature of the sport, there is a positive impact on participant wellbeing.”

Will Evans, Chief Executive Officer of Boccia England, said:

“Successfully achieving this standard across all six themes is a significant achievement, especially for a Governing Body with our limited resources. The commitment to achieving this standard demonstrates our strong commitment to developing a positive culture for everyone in our sport, and to providing a safe place for everyone to play the most inclusive sport in the world.

I am very proud of the team that has worked on this submission and we will celebrate this success. However, we will not stop here. While we have met the standard across all themes, there are areas where we can continue to improve. These will be built into an action plan as we strive to further strengthen how our sport is delivered.”
