Boccia England has launched a consultation on proposals to update the competition structure and the playing season. Feedback from the boccia community is invited to help shape the future of competitive boccia.
Proposals were outlined to members at a Winter Webinar on Wednesday 22 January with CEO Will Evans setting out the plans to update the competitive boccia landscape over the next few years.
Summary of the proposals
Five proposals are being put forward
- Align the season to the calendar year and provide greater structure
- BE National Championships to incorporate all classifications (BC1-BC8) with Heathcoat Cup Festivals to be established as entry-level playing opportunities
- Provide regional ranking events in more locations as qualifying for the National Championships (working towards a localised delivery model)
- Revamp qualification/ rankings system to take account of updated structure
- Fill gaps in programme•Juniors•FE & HE•Challenger•Open/ non-classified
