Competition is at the heart of boccia. Whether you’re a beginner playing for the first time or an experienced international athlete, there’s a place for you in our competition pathway.

Following a review and consultation in early 2025, we’ve reshaped our calendar and competition pathway to make it clearer, simpler, and more inclusive for everyone.

INDIVIDUAL Competitions

• The highest level of domestic competition in England.
• Open to all classifications (BC1–BC8).
• Any Boccia England member can enter, but you’ll need to qualify to compete at Finals Weekend for the title of National Champion.
• Qualification events run April–July in five locations across the country.

The Heathcoat Cup name has a proud history in English boccia and now offers something new

• Friendly, inclusive festivals designed for fun, learning, and community.
• A non-competitive environment where you can practice skills, meet others, and enjoy boccia.
• Open to non-members – you can play in up to three festivals a year and still be covered by our insurance.

Some players will stay and thrive at Festivals, others may use them as a stepping stone into the National Championships. Either way, Festivals are here to support your journey.

Festivals may be organised by Boccia England, clubs, or local groups.

• The top eight boccia teams in England battle for the Super League title.
• Matches are held at central venues throughout the season.
• Results feed into a league table, with champions crowned at season’s end.
• Promotion and relegation is in place with the lowest-ranked Super League team relegated to the National League, while the National League winners move up.

• Our largest annual competition.
• Open to club teams across the country.
• Teams play in regional leagues to reduce travel, with winners invited to National League Finals Day.
• The National League champion earns promotion to the Super League.

Boccia is also about teamwork! Gather your clubmates (or join your local club) and compete together.

• Teams play 3 v 3 matches.
• Your club must be a Boccia England member and registered for competitions.
• Competitions are pan-classification, so everyone can take part.
