The staff team at leading national sexual violence and safeguarding training and consultancy organisation, Lime Culture, were introduced to the sport of boccia as part of their staff away day in Leamington Spa.
Boccia England’s Safeguarding and Governance Officer, George Bollands, led an introductory session that demonstrated that not only can boccia be played by anyone, it can also be played anywhere – limited space and equipment need not be a barrier.
Following a brief overview of how to play the sport, Lime Culture staff team were split into five teams of three and competitive, but fun & friendly, matches were soon underway.
All staff members were involved in the matches and over the two-hour session were given the opportunity to learn about the sport and develop their boccia skills during a “winner stays on” competition.
The session was enjoyed by all who attended with Lime Culture commenting that, “We have such a competitive team so it was a truly fantastic way to spend the afternoon. Thank you, Boccia England”
George Bollands, Boccia England’s Governance and Safeguarding Officer, added:
“This is one my favorite parts of my job at Boccia England being able to get out and introduce the sport I love to new people, raising awareness of boccia in the process. I would like to thank Lime Culture for inviting me to their Winter Away Day – it was brilliant and really enjoyable to deliver a boccia session to their staff”
