England’s leading boccia athletes have been equipped with clothing from the Primark Adaptive range following a donation from the retailer to Boccia England.
The athletes first wore the clothing during recent international competitions in Czechia and the Netherlands, with English athletes returning home with medals from both events. The new kit has already proven popular among athletes, offering practical benefits both on and off the court.
Developed in collaboration with adaptive fashion designer Victoria Jenkins, the Primark Adaptive range has been created to support disabled people through thoughtfully designed clothing that combines comfort, functionality and style. The collection includes sportswear, casualwear and underwear, featuring a range of inclusive design elements.
For boccia athletes, the benefits extend beyond comfort. Several items within the sportswear range have been specifically designed with seated wearers in mind, helping athletes feel more comfortable, confident and focused while competing. These factors can play an important role in supporting performance at the highest level.
Boccia England CEO Will Evans, said:
“Providing athletes with the right kit is a crucial part of success in any sport. This is particularly important in boccia, where much of the standard sportswear available is not designed to work effectively for wheelchair users.
“The Primark Adaptive range helps address that challenge, enabling our athletes to feel comfortable, confident and ready to perform at their best. We are very grateful to Primark for their support.”
Amy Slevin, Senior Inclusion and Community Impact Manager at Primark, added:
“We are really pleased to have been able to support Boccia England’s athletes with clothing from our Adaptive range. The collection is designed to help disabled people get more from everyday life without having to worry about their clothing working against them.
“If our clothing can also contribute to athletes performing at their best on the international stage, that is really rewarding. We wish the athletes every success as they compete for medals throughout the year, including at the UK Championships later this season.”
